GENTLEMEN’S ONLY BEST OF THE BEST EVENT

The Best of the Best Dancesport Challenge gives student dancers the opportunity to focus on improving their dancing in a specific division and the winners the chance to represent one of 55 competitions and the Dancer’s Cup Tour in the Grand Finale at the Ohio Star Ball. It's a focused format of fun, excitement and recognition. (Please visit the Fordney Foundation web site for further info the Youth Series Best of the Best competitions.)

For the 2024 Best of the Best Dancesport Challenge, the Pro/Am winners from the all the competitions listed in the Competitions section and the Dancer’s Cup Tour competitions, will be battling it out for Top Honors! The Dancer’s Cup Tour “Best of the Best” representatives will be those Bronze, Silver, Gold, Gentlemen’s Only, Showdance, Showcase, and Theater Arts competitors who have accumulated the most points at all of the DCT events beginning with the 2023 Ohio Star Ball and ending with the North American Imperial Star Ball in 2024.

The Grand Finale for this year’s Challenge will be held at the 2024 Ohio Star Ball. At this Finale, the Bronze, Silver, Gold, Gentlemen’s Only, Showdance, Showcase, and Theater Arts Finale competitions will take place on Thursday afternoon / evening at the Ohio Star Ball.

For 2024, the Grand Finale winners at the Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels, and the overall winners of the Gentlemen's Only, Showdance, Showcase, and Theater Arts events, will be asked to make an Encore performance of their winning dances on Friday evening at the Ohio Star Ball. What better way to recognize the winning Best of the Best Dancesport performances than to be shown in the Friday evening events at the 2024 Ohio Star Ball.

The Best of the Best DanceSport Challenge is a yearly competition between some of the top Pro/Am couples in the country who are winners at the Bronze, Silver, Gold, Gentlemen’s Only, Showdance, Showcase, and Theater Arts levels of dance. The Best of the Best was originally started as a Challenge for the Top Competitor between the Atlanta Open, Holiday Classic, and the Ohio Star Ball. The Challenge has now expanded to 55 qualifying events held throughout the calendar year, including representatives from the Dancer’s Cup Tour, and culminating with the Grand Finale events at the Ohio Star Ball. Each qualifying event hosting a Best of the Best Challenge offers a different category, so interested competitors have their pick of several divisions in which to shine.

Entering in your selected division at a participating event is the first step to qualifying. Make sure to check the details as outlined in the organizers’ literature. The concept of Best of the Best is to take the winners in each age division of the qualifying event and have a run-off to determine an overall winner for the competition. The Overall winner from each participating competition is asked to prepare a solo presentation in the dance of their choice at the Grand Finale Challenge in Ohio. At the Grand Finale, the overall winners from each participating competition, and the representatives from the Dancer’s Cup Tour, will present their solo and compete for the coveted Best of the Best Dancesport Challenge title at the Bronze, Silver, Gold, Gentlemen’s Only, Showdance, Showcase, and Theater Arts levels.

The Best of the Best Challenge gives each participant the opportunity to focus on improving their dancing in a specific division and the winners the chance to compete at the Grand Finale in Ohio.
