The Best of the Best Challenge gives each student dancer the opportunity to focus on improving their dancing in a specific division and the winners the chance to represent one of eleven competitions and the Dancer’s Cup Tour at the Grand Finale in Ohio. It's a focused format of fun, excitement and recognition.
For the 2012 Best of the Best Dancesport Challenge, the Pro/Am winners from the 2011 Holiday Classic, and the 2012 Maryland Dancesport, California Open, San Francisco Open, Philadelphia Festival, Emerald Ball, Atlanta Open, Spring Tulip Classic, Yankee Classic, Millennium DanceSport, Virginia State, Capital DanceSport, Embassy Ball, Galaxy Dance Festival, and the First Coast Classic competitions will be battling it out for Top Honors! The Dancer’s Cup Tour “Best of the Best” representatives will be those Bronze, Silver, and Gold Male and Female dancers that have accumulated the most points at all of the DCT events beginning with the 2011 Ohio Star Ball and ending with the First Coast Classic in 2012.
In 2012, there are 4 new competitions that are now part of the Best of the Best Dancesport Challenge: Philadelphia Festival, Spring Tulip Classic, Virginia State, and the Galaxy Dance Festival. Also new is the Dancer Cup Tour, which will provide representatives to the Best of the Best Dancesport Challenge Finale at the 2012 Ohio Star Ball. Many thanks to the organizers of these fine competitive events for becoming part of the Best of the Best Challenge.
The Dancer’s Cup Tour is the “Tour of Experience” and includes the following events: Nashville Starz (January), California Open (February), St. Louis Star Ball (March), Wisconsin State (April), People’s Choice (May), Twin Cities Open (July), Heart of America (August), First Coast Classic (October), Ohio Star Ball (November), and Holiday Dance Classic (December). The Grand Finale for this year’s Challenge will be held at the 2012 Ohio Star Ball. At this Finale, the closed Bronze and Silver Finale competitions will take place on Wednesday evening, November 14, 2012, and the Open Gold Finale competitions will take place on Thursday evening, November 15, 2012.
Again for 2012, the Grand Finale winners at the Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels will be asked to make an encore performance of their winning dances on Friday evening at the 2012 Ohio Star Ball. What better way to recognize the winning Best of the Best Dancesport performances than to be shown in the Friday evening events at the 2012 Ohio Star Ball.
